Various areas in the UAE on Monday, witnessed precipitation of varying intensity due to the country being affected by an unstable weather state that is expected to continue until Thursday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
This state may see a shallow air depression from the southeast, coinciding with an air depression in the upper atmosphere. The development of these weather systems is accompanied by a cold air mass and an upper air current from the west, leading to the formation of clouds and rainfall, the NCM added.
Precipitation was observed in Al Mushrif, Airport Road, Khalifa City, Al Nouf, Al Qurm Street, Sheikh Khalifa Street, Al Rawdah in Abu Dhabi, and other scattered areas. The lowest temperature recorded in the country was 5.6°C in Rakna in Al Ain at 7am, the NCM added.
In the meantime, the Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to exercise caution due to the weather conditions, and to adhere to the variable speed indicated on signs and road signs.
The NCM expects that the weather on Tuesday will see intermittent cloud cover, with occasional periods of cloudiness in specific northern and coastal areas.
There is a possibility of precipitation, with increased humidity during the nighttime and early morning on Wednesday in certain inland areas. Prevailing winds are expected to be northwesterly to northeasterly, with a moderate to light velocity ranging from 10 to 25 km/h, reaching a maximum of 35 km/h. The sea conditions are forecast to be medium to light in the Arabian Gulf and light in the Sea of Oman.
