Pakistan's Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the distribution of 100,000 electric bikes (e-bikes) to students across the province.
Meanwhile, she has also announced the establishment of an education city in Lahore, aimed at attracting top global universities to set up campuses.
The chief minister highlighted the importance of empowering youth and promoting sustainable transportation and urged students to pledge their commitment to serve Pakistan and to stay dedicated to the country, emphasising that they should not leave or harm Pakistan.
She further announced an increase in the amount of the Honhar Scholarship, raising it from Rs30,000 to Rs 50,000 annually.
Additionally, she unveiled her plans at a function to provide international scholarships to students, supporting their higher education at globally renowned institutions.
The initiative aims to make higher education accessible to more students from diverse backgrounds in Punjab.
As part of her efforts to support the youth, the chief minister launched the Honhar Scholarship programme for 2,570 students from the Rawalpindi Division.
These scholarships will support students from various disciplines, helping them pursue education without financial constraints.
Maryam also revealed plans to offer international scholarships for Punjab’s youth to pursue higher education at prestigious global institutions.
These scholarships are designed to provide students from all backgrounds with the financial support they need to succeed in their academic endeavours.
She talked about the improving economic indicators, noting a rising stock exchange and declining inflation. She credited the government’s efforts and hard work for the positive economic trajectory.
She also discussed her efforts to empower the youth, stating that the Punjab government is offering scholarships and resources to support students from all backgrounds, including those at private universities.
