President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has expressed deep grief over the passing of former president of the United States, Jimmy Carter.
In his condolence message, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed extended heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Jimmy Carter's family, and the people of the United States.
Sharing a heartwarming photo of the father of the nation, late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan, with Jimmy Carter, on his X account, President Sheikh Mohamed wrote, "I extend my sincere condolences to the family of former US President Jimmy Carter, who was a good friend of the UAE. Together with the late Sheikh Zayed, he laid the foundations for disease eradication efforts that continue to make a meaningful impact today. May he rest in peace."
Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the USA (1977 to 1981) and winner of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, died on Sunday at his home in Plains, Georgia. He was 100, the longest-lived president in US history, the Carter Centre announced in a statement.
Carter had been in hospice care since mid-February 2023 at his home in Plains, Georgia — the same small town where he was born and once ran a peanut farm before becoming governor and running for the White House.
Carter died "peacefully" at his home in Plains, "surrounded by his family," the Carter Center said in a statement on Sunday. "My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights and unselfish love," Chip Carter said in the statement.
