Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian national in absentia to three months in jail and ordered his deportation from the country after serving his sentence, for assaulting his wife after an argument between them, which resulted in a broken hand and a permanent disability of 3%.
The details of the case date back to July 2024, when an Asian woman filed a report with the police stating that she was assaulted by her husband after a dispute broke out between them while her husband was driving his vehicle on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.
The victim explained during the interrogations that her husband grabbed her left hand and twisted it forcefully, then stopped on the side of the road and pushed her out of the vehicle violently.
After the assault, she allegedly took a taxi and went to hospital for treatment.
The reports from the hospital and the Criminal Laboratory at the Dubai Police indicated that the victim suffered a broken left hand as a result of her hand being twisted violently.
The reports also showed that the injury resulted in a healed fracture, which required the insertion of a metal plate and screws and the injury was classified as a permanent disability of 3%.
The suspect admitted during the police and prosecution interrogations that he caused his wife's injury as a result of a dispute between them, but he denied this in court, stating that his wife's account was not accurate.
