Emirates Airlines was quick to debunk a social media video on Saturday, confirming that it was fabricated and not real. The company is actively pursuing the removal of the video.
In a blog post published on its official X account, Emirates stated, “We have become aware of a video that is currently in circulation on various social media platforms, which appears to show the crash of an aircraft bearing the Emirates logo. We can confirm that this video is a fabrication and does not depict a real-life event.”
“We are in contact with various social media platforms to remove the video or clarify that it is a digitally created clip, to avoid the circulation of false and alarming information. It is regrettable that the platforms’ responses to these content review requests are not sufficiently expeditious; consequently, it was deemed necessary to issue this statement,” Emirates added. Emirates stressed that the company’s commitment to safety is at the core of the Emirates brand and operations, emphasising the gravity of the matter.
They advised all audiences to always check and refer to official sources in order to avoid the dissemination of false information.
The circulation of a video clip on social media platforms has been attributed to the deliberate dissemination of misinformation, specifically the propagation of a purported incident involving an Emirati aircraft in Abu Dhabi.
This claim has been unequivocally refuted by Emirates Airlines.
Recently, in response to growing demand out of Denmark, Emirates SkyCargo has deployed a dedicated weekly freighter to Copenhagen Airport, increasing the network of destinations served by Emirates freighters to 38.
The Boeing 777 freighter will increase capacity offered to Emirates’ customers, with approximately 85 tonnes allocated for cargo from Copenhagen, and neighbouring countries including Norway and Sweden.
Emirates SkyCargo has recorded significant growth in volume of over 20 percent from Denmark in the last financial year, driven largely by pharmaceutical shipments.
