Abu Dhabi shuts down 23 restaurants and establishments over food safety violation

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) closed approximately 23 restaurants and food establishments in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra region in 2024 due to violations which affect public health.
ADFCA closed an establishment for violating food safety requirements and repeatedly committing violations affecting food safety.
The establishment's manager failed to take effective corrective actions to rectify these violations while ADFCA had previously warned of administrative closure due to poor general hygiene and improper food storage, as well as the observation of unsafe practices. So a decision was then issued to suspend the establishment's activity as a precaution after a case of food poisoning was confirmed.
ADFCA also closed a restaurant due to repeated high-risk violations, such as handling expired food items, incorrectly thawing frozen food, and selling frozen chicken as fresh, using food items from unknown sources, and the lack of food labels for some items.
ADFCA also closed a restaurant due to repeated violations of food safety requirements and receiving violations and a warning of closure for repeatedly committing high-risk violations, such as the spread of insects and rodents and a lack of attention to the establishment's cleanliness.
A meat sales establishment was also closed due to selling imported meat as local and due to the spread of cockroaches.
ADFCA also closed a supermarket due to repeated violations of several reasons, including the selling of expired food products.
