Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) has announced the return of the Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Tigers Challenge set to take place on February 1 and 8, 2025, at the grand Khorfakkan Amphitheatre on the east coast of Sharjah.
The unique event invites professional athletes, amateurs, and children to compete in an exciting series of obstacle challenges amidst the natural beauty of the scenic Khorfakkan city.
The first race, on Saturday, February 1, will feature a fast-paced 400-metre course designed for individuals and teams seeking to test their speed and agility.
The second race, taking place on Saturday, February 8, will offer a greater variety of challenges. Adults can choose between 4-kilometre and 8-kilometre courses, while younger participants, aged 4 to 14, can compete in children’s races covering 600 metres or 1,200 metres.
The OCR Tigers Challenge falls in line with Sharjah’s vision of promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging community participation in sports.
Set to originate at the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, celebrating the best of Islamic and Roman architecture and offering spectacular views of the picturesque east coast, the obstacle race offers everyone a memorable experience and a rare opportunity to test their endurance and sporting spirit.
The races will begin at 7am and run until 5pm on both days. Interested participants can register online via the official link.
Recently, the SGMB wrapped up the fourth edition of the Sharjah Events Festival at Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah.
The four-day festival attracted more than 30,000 visitors who had the opportunity to enjoy and experience forest adventures and as many as 52 activities, including thrilling contests, challenges, games, carnival shows and live theatrical performances targeting all age groups and family members.
The festival saw the launch of the Sharjah Events Agenda 2025, showcasing the various activities and events that will be organised during the coming months by various government and private entities in the emirate.
As many as 24 government organisations and private entities participated in and contributed to the festival’s success by presenting and disseminating positive and purposeful awareness messages about various sectors in a way that suits different age groups and communities.
Tariq Saeed Allay, Director-General of SGMB, said that the rich agenda and diverse activities that the Sharjah Events Festival offered combined entertainment and knowledge and aspirations of the emirate.
The festival aligns with Sharjah’s distinguished identity, consolidating the emirate’s position as a complete and diverse tourist, cultural and entertainment destination, added Allay.
The SGMB Director-General pointed out that the strong participation by government and private entities has contributed to the success of the festival and enhanced the diversity of its purposeful messages, especially in light of the tremendous popularity it enjoys among the public, establishing it as one of the most prominent annual events for family entertainment.
The festival was inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council.
The Sharjah Events website, in collaboration with the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, organised the festival under the theme “It Shines with its Festivities,” at Al Majaz Amphitheatre.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed toured the interactive dome, crafted to mirror the natural surroundings, where he observed a visual presentation detailing the agenda for Sharjah’s events in 2025.
He had explored the festival, showcasing 52 events and activities arranged by the participating entities.
These encompass competitions, challenges, games, and interactive performances.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed also received an overview of the involvement of government and private institutions in Sharjah, showcasing a diverse array of events and activities aimed at both children and adults.
He navigated the diverse pavilions that provided guests with engaging experiences brimming with adventure and thrill.
