Two Emirati girls, aged 14 and 15, died after the recreational motorbike they were riding on was struck by a private vehicle on an internal street in an area of Ras Al Khaimah.
The Ras Al Khaimah Police confirmed that the incident occurred when a car, driven by a 37-year-old Arab, collided with the rear of the recreational motorbike on which the two girls were riding.
The collision was attributed to the driver's inattention on an internal street, resulting in the tragic demise of the two girls.
On Saturday evening, the operations room received a report regarding the incident. Consequently, the specialised patrols and the national ambulance proceeded expeditiously to the site of the incident. Upon arrival, it was ascertained that the two girls had perished due to the severe injuries sustained in the collision.
They were consequently transferred by ambulance to "Saqr Governmental Hospital" for preparation of their handover to their families. The driver responsible was apprehended.
The police were assigned responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of the incident. In their statement, the police called on drivers to exercise caution and care, to fully adhere to traffic laws and regulations, to adhere to the specified speeds, and to not be distracted by anything other than the road.
They stated that this would help to avoid such unfortunate accidents that claim the lives of innocent people.
