Five individuals have been rescued by a helicopter belonging to the air wing of the Dubai Police on Monday after they had stranded on one of the Hatta mountains. These individuals were engaged in a mountain walking activity (hiking). This operation was the result of a collaborative effort between the Hatta Police Station, and the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services.
Mishaal Julfar, the CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, stated that the rescue operation of the five individuals was carried out with the assistance of two air ambulance personnel, in addition to two pilots and a navigator from the Dubai Police Air Wing team. The aforementioned team responded to the report using a helicopter equipped with a crane, which was utilised to lower the paramedics to the site. The necessity for the individuals to be transferred to the hospital was negated, as their safety was confirmed and the necessary measures were taken at the site.
In turn, Colonel Pilot Khalfan Salem Al Mazrouei, the Acting Director of the Air Wing at Dubai Police, confirmed that the rescue operation of the five individuals was initiated subsequent to the receipt of a report by the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations. The report indicated that the five individuals were unable to descend from the mountainous area due to the hazardous nature of the terrain and the considerable height involved.
It was noted that the helicopter took off in the direction of the five individuals' location, following precise location determination in collaboration with the officers on duty at Hatta Police Station and the Brave Team. This indicated that the aircraft crew evaluated the most effective rescue method and subsequently utilised a crane to lift the individuals, considering the challenges associated with landing the aircraft at that location, after implementing the requisite safety precautions.
Al Mazrouei emphasised the importance of adhering to designated hiking trails in mountainous regions, urging members of the public to refrain from venturing out or approaching these areas. In the event of an emergency, he advised individuals to contact the emergency number 999 or utilise the SOS feature on the Dubai Police app.
In turn, the five individuals expressed their profound gratitude to the Dubai Police for their expeditious response to their request and their subsequent transfer from the mountainous region.
