The General Command of Ras Al Khaimah Police, in collaboration with the Emirate's General Resources Authority (GRA), has announced the launch of the smart vehicle impoundment system, commencing on 20 January. This bold initiative aims to enhance smart services and streamline traffic procedures.
The novel system allows vehicle owners whose vehicles have been found to be in violation of traffic regulations to retain their vehicles. They do not have to leave them in the vehicle impoundment yard. The system enables electronic monitoring of these vehicles, ensuring that they remain in the designated impoundment site.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, announced the activation of the service through traffic systems. Under this new system, vehicle owners can select a suitable location to impound their vehicles, with the assurance of direct supervision and commitment to care throughout the impoundment period. The new system will reduce pressure on the impoundment yard and relies on advanced technologies to ensure compliance with the laws in force at the Ministry of Interior.
He added that the service allows customers to take care of their vehicles and operate them periodically, protecting them from long-term parking damage.
The service covers all types of vehicles and most traffic violations, making it highly flexible.
The smart vehicle impoundment system marks a major step forward in traffic services, translating Ras Al Khaimah Police and the General Resources Authority's commitment to embracing digital transformation and delivering efficient, innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
