Intermittent fog blanketed separate areas across the UAE for the second successive day and continued for 10.5 hours between 11pm on Thursday and 9:30am on Friday.
The fog started to form over Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi, Mezairah, Bida Da’fas and other areas in Al Dhafra Region, over Al Khazna, Remah and Al Arad in Al Ain City and over Al Ain-Abu Dhabi Road, Al Khatm, Al Wathba, Arjan, northern Abu Hariba and other areas in Abu Dhabi.
The lowest temperature of 5.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 3:30am, while the second lowest temperature of 6.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rakna, Al Ain at 7:30am.
Abu Dhabi Police called on motorists to take caution due to the lower visibility during the fog and to abide by the varying speed limit as shown on the electronic traffic signs.
They also reduced the speed limit to 80 km/h on 10 roads: Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road (Treif-Madinat Zayed), Sheikh Hazza Bin Sultan I (Madinat Zayed-Ghayathi), Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway (Al Ruwais Bridge-Al Hamra Bridge), Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (Al Faya Bridge-Al Khatm Bridge), Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway (Al Hamra Bridge-Falcon Sanctuary Bridge), Al Ain-Abu Dhabi Road (Al Khatm Bridge-Al Khazna Bridge), Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway (Al Mugeirah-Al Sila), Al Ain Road (Al Khazna-Remah), Umm Al Zamoul Road (Al Waqn-Al Ain) and Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway (Trucks Bridge-Al Aryam Bridge).
Saturday’s weather is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy at times in the islands and some coastal, northern and eastern areas with a chance of rains but will be humid at night and on Sunday morning in some inland areas with a chance of light fog.
Light to moderate northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times and dust-stirring at 10 to 30 and up to 40 km/h, while the sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and will have regular to moderate waves but may become rough at times in the Sea of Oman.
Sunday’s weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times in the islands and some northern and eastern areas with a chance of drizzles but will be humid at night and on Monday morning in some inland areas with a chance of fog or light fog.
Light to moderate northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 10 to 25 and up to 490 degrees Celsius, while the sea will be rough in the morning but will subsequently have moderate waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Monday’s weather will be clear to partly cloudy but will be humid at night and on Tuesday morning in some inland areas. Light to moderate northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active at times at 10 to 25 and up to 40 km/h, while the sea will have moderate waves but may become rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Tuesday’s weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times in the north but will be humid at night and on Wednesday morning in some inland areas. Moderate to active northwesterly winds will blow, turning to strong at times and dust-stirring at 15 to 30 and up to 50 km/h, while the sea will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and rough in the Sea of Oman.
