In a breathtaking video, Emirati young man Khalifa Al Ghafri succeeded in jumping from the top of Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, accompanied by adventurers from Argentina, Romania and South Africa. The 37-year-old Al-Ghafri is nicknamed the “Batman of the Emirates.”
In a previous attempt in 2020, the wingsuit maestro successfully landed about 20km north of the city of Ras Al Khaimah.
Al Ghafri, who is from Ras Al Khaimah, has jumped from mountains in five other countries, in France, Switzerland, Norway, Italy, and Turkey.
Al-Ghafri has stated that “jumping from fixed and mobile sites” is a sport and a hobby associated with excitement and danger at the same time, one has to be careful and strict adherence to safety rules is a surefire guarantee to preserve the safety of professionals, and practitioners, and pave their way to success.
Al Ghafri started practising and professionalising this amazing sport and hobby in 2014, when he was 27 years old, explaining that the sport and hobby of jumping from fixed and moving places, “BASE jump” and “Skydive,” require specialised courses that take a year.
Jebel Jais is one of the UAE’s most captivating and memorable landmarks, as it is one of the most beautiful natural landmarks in the UAE.
This towering mountain in the north of Ras Al Khaimah is the highest mountain peak in the country, approximately 25 kilometres away from the centre of Ras Al Khaimah City, according to local estimates.
It is located adjacent to the town of Ghalilah and Wadi Ghalilah, at an altitude of approximately 1,900 metres (5,700 feet) above sea level. Jebel Jais occupies a remarkable location, amidst picturesque nature and a charming mountainous environment and overlooks a number of palm groves and surrounding residential areas, drawing beautiful and captivating pictures of nature.
