In the course of the month of December, the Ports Police Station in Dubai issued tickets against 47 marine facilities.
The total number of marine violations amounted to 67, among of which were failure to renew licence and to adhere to safe marine safety procedures, according to Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, Director of the Station.
This came within a campaign that conducted in collaboration with the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, where 118 marine facilities were inspected. This initiative forms part of the Station's ongoing efforts to educate marine facilities owners, enhance maritime security, and preserve maritime navigation.
Brigadier Al Suwaidi explained that the primary objective of these efforts is to ensure public safety and to encourage adherence to maritime laws and regulations. Furthermore, the implementation of preventive security measures is crucial in this regard, he added.
It was further noted that the primary objective of the annual campaigns is to raise awareness among owners of marine facilities and to ensure that users and owners of floating restaurants are aware of the applicable laws, with a view to ensuring their safety and the safety of their marine facilities.
In addition to this, the campaigns seek to regulate the use of these facilities in the marine sector and to monitor violators.
Al Suwaidi also pointed out the violations included organisation of events without the requisite licences, the utilisation of marine facilities beyond their licensed durations without renewal, and the failure to adhere to the stipulated safety procedures that are crucial for ensuring the well-being of users and the integrity of the marine environment.
It is noteworthy that the Station has recorded a total of 26 criminal reports pertaining to legal infractions committed by owners of marine facilities.
Brigadier Al Suwaidi emphasised the high level of readiness exhibited by maritime security patrols in their efforts to ensure the security of maritime navigation and to monitor those who might violate the established regulations.
He also highlighted the preparedness of maritime rescue patrols to respond to emergency maritime accidents, emphasising their ability to respond in a timely manner, regardless of the time of day.
In addition, Major Saeed Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Head of the General Shift Section at the Ports Police Station and Head of the Campaign Team, emphasised the imperative for all owners and operators of maritime facilties to adhere to local laws and established safety protocols. Concurrently, he appealed to all members of the public to collaborate with security services in the event of any maritime violations or transgressions.
