The Operations Centre at Sharjah Police intervened to save a person whose vehicle's cruise control malfunctioned at a speed of 130 km/h. The Operations Centre's staff exhibited a high level of professionalism in their handling of the incident, effectively calming and reassuring the driver while simultaneously providing him with the requisite instructions.
Colonel Hamdan Al Tunaiji, the Acting Director of the Operations Centre Department at the Sharjah Police, explained that a report was received stating that the driver of a vehicle had experienced a malfunction in his cruise control on the Sharjah road heading to Al Dhaid.
In response to the report, the Operations Centre promptly contacted the patrols present at the scene to secure the vehicle and provide escort. Concurrently, the centre's staff intervened with the driver, employing techniques such as calming and reassuring him, while imparting instructions and solutions to deactivate the cruise control. These measures enabled the vehicle driver to disengage the cruise control, halt the vehicle, and exit safely without injury. The patrols subsequently conducted a safety check on the driver.
Colonel Al-Tunaiji emphasised the Operations Centre's commitment to responding expeditiously to all reports, and to managing these in a professional manner by assigning specialised personnel to receive them. This approach is intended to enhance community safety and security.
Colonel Al Tunaiji also called on drivers to adhere to traffic guidelines, to periodically inspect their vehicles and their contents, and to contact the Operations Centre in emergency cases by calling 999. In the event of any technical malfunction while driving, drivers were advised to report it immediately in order to save time and preserve the safety of lives and property.
