The General Department for Drug Control arrested a drug trafficker in a trap after he offered a quantity of hashish to a policeman for Dhs400.
The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced the suspect to life in jail, deportation from the country, and a two-year ban after the completion of his sentence from transferring or depositing any funds for others, either personally or through others, except with the permission of the Central Bank of the UAE in coordination with the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
According to the case file, in May 2024, reliable sources informed the General Department for Drug Control at the Dubai Police that the suspect was abusing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and possessed a quantity of crystal meth.
A policeman stated that after investigations, the information was found to be correct, so a trap was set to arrest the suspect, where he communicated with him and agreed to purchase drugs for Dhs400.
When the latter arrived at the agreed-upon location in Al Manqool area, he handed over the drugs and received Dhs400, so he was caught red-handed.
The policeman stated that he and a team from the Drug Control Department raided the suspect’s residence, where they found various drugs hidden in different places.
They also found a sensitive scale and materials used to divide and package drugs before trafficking them.
The forensic laboratory report affirmed that the seized drugs with the suspect and in his home exceeded 100 grammes, and all of them were listed in Schedule 1 and 5 of the drug schedule.
Also, the suspect’s sample showed that he was a drug abuser. On being interrogated, the suspect admitted that he trafficked drugs which he obtained from a trafficker in an Asian country, adding that he obtained them through the location-finding feature on WhatsApp.
Then, he sent the location to his customers. He pointed out that he used to transfer the value of the drugs to an account outside the country.
When the security team arrived at one of the locations used by the suspect, a package was retrieved from beside a window of a traditional house.
