Pakistan PM Shahbaz Sharif to attend World Governments Summit in Dubai

At the invitation of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will pay a two-day official visit to the UAE from Feb.10-11 (Monday-Tuesday) to participate in the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai.
“The Summit will bring together a large number of Heads of State/Government, global policymakers, and leading private sector figures to discuss the future of governance, innovation and international cooperation,” the Foreign Office spokesperson, on Sunday, said in a press statement.
He would be accompanied by a high-level delegation including Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and other key members of the cabinet, reflecting Pakistan’s strong commitment to deepening its engagement with the UAE and other global partners, it added.
During his visit, the prime minister will deliver a keynote address at the WGS, highlighting Pakistan’s vision for inclusive economic growth, digital transformation and governance reforms.
He would also hold bilateral meetings with the UAE leadership as well as engage with Heads of State/Government from participating countries and leading CEOs of major multinational companies.
“Pakistan and the UAE share a deep-rooted brotherly relationship built on mutual trust, understanding and a longstanding mutually beneficial cooperation. The UAE remains one of Pakistan’s key economic and strategic partners, with strong collaboration across multiple sectors,” the spokesperson said.
The Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, which is the second largest Pakistani expatriate community worldwide, continues to play a pivotal role in the development and success of both countries, serving as a bridge between the two nations.
“The prime minister’s visit underscores Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening its ties with the UAE, fostering greater economic collaboration and exploring new avenues of partnership for mutual prosperity,” it further added.
Ambassador Faisal Tirmizi offers condolences on passing away of Karim Aga Khan
On behalf of the Government and the people of Pakistan, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Envoy to the UAE, visited the Ismaili Centre Dubai to offer condolences on the passing away of Prince Karim Al Hussaini Aga Khan IV.
Ambassador Tirmizi paid tribute to the extraordinary life and legacy of Prince Karim, which was marked by an unwavering commitment to serving humanity. He described Prince Karim as a global beacon of hope whose tireless efforts uplifted the underprivileged and vulnerable communities across the world.

Tirmizi also highlighted the profound connection between Prince Karim and Pakistan. He recalled Prince Karim's remarkable contributions to Pakistan’s socio-economic development, particularly through the work of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
During his visit, Ambassador Tirmizi was received by Khalil Feroz Muhammad, Vice President of the Ismaili Centre Dubai, Akbar Verjee, Head of Diplomatic Relations, and Hassan Vellani, a senior representative of the Ismaili community. Together, they reflected on the extraordinary life and legacy of Prince Karim.
Tirmizi recorded his condolences in the official condolence book at the Ismaili Centre Dubai. “The passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV is a great loss for the global community. His legacy will continue to inspire us to strive for a more equitable and compassionate world,” remarked the ambassador.
