Abu Dhabi Court of Family and Civil and Administrative cases ordered a parent to pay Dhs10,000 in compensation to another parent, as the son of the first assaulted the latter's in school, causing him broken teeth and a cut on his lip.
In the details, a man filed a lawsuit against another and his son, requesting that they be jointly pay him Dhs30,000 in compensation for the material and moral damages incurred by his son, as well as the fees and expenses of the case.
The plaintiff stated that the appellee's son had assaulted his son in school, resulting in breaking his teeth and a cut on his lip, adding that a criminal case had been filed against them, and a judgment had been issued.
The court clarified that it was established in the criminal case that the first appellee, who was a minor under 16, had assaulted the victim and caused injuries which prevented him from performing his personal tasks for a period not exceeding twenty days.
The court then convicted him, placing him under supervision and the restrictions required by judicial probation, with the court to be provided with the necessary reports every three months, and the pronouncement of the judgment was suspended for one year.
The court added that the mistake of the minor caused material and moral damages to the plaintiff's son, and therefore, the court estimated the compensation he deserved for these damages to be Dhs10,000. The court also ordered the second appellee to pay the fees and expenses of the lawsuit, in his capacity as the guardian of the first appellee, who was a minor.
