Ports Police Station issued 400 violations, including 235 violations against jet skis and 165 violations against other marine vessels, in addition to 11 violations against ships and 11 violations for illegal fishing, according to Brigadier Dr Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, Director of the Ports Police Station.
Al Suwaidi explained that the violations against jet skis were due to the expiration of their licences, driving into areas designated for swimming and hotel beaches, as well as non-compliance with the authorised times for driving, not wearing life jackets, in addition to driving by persons under the age and overloading.
Al Suwaidi added that the jet ski violations were issued in various coastal areas in the Emirate of Dubai, pointing out that the fine for driving a jet ski with an expired licence amounts to Dhs1,000, while the fine for driving it at unauthorised times amounts to Dhs2,000, and the fine for not wearing safety equipment amounts to Dhs3,000.
Al Suwaidi indicated that the violations against other marine vessels included using them despite their expiration, where the fine amounts to Dhs1,000, as well as sailing in prohibited areas in the emirate, with a fine of up to Dhs5,000, and sailing at unauthorised times, with a fine of Dhs1,000.
