Light rain and a drop in temperature were recorded on Tuesday in various parts of the country, and active winds of up to 60 km/h were blowing, causing dust and reducing the horizontal visibility to less than 2 km on the Sheikh Khalifa International Road from Al Hamra to the Falcons Reserve in the Dhafra region.
The wave height reached 10 feet off-shore in the Arabian Gulf as a result of the country being affected by the extension of a surface low pressure system from the east with a high pressure system from the west, accompanied by a low pressure system in the upper layers of the atmosphere.
Jebel Jais recorded the lowest temperature in the country on Tuesday morning, with 10.1°C at 07:45 am.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has stressed the importance of the adherence to safety and security guidelines during periods of sea turbulence. This statement emphasises the necessity of avoiding swimming and diving, as well as engaging in any marine activities, particularly during periods of high waves and sea turbulence.
In addition, the NCM warned against direct exposure to dust and suspended dust, emphasising the necessity of caution and adherence to safety regulations while driving. This caution included the closure of doors and windows to prevent dust from entering the vehicle, and the monitoring of weather bulletins issued by official authorities. The centre also underscored the importance of following the guidance provided by the centre and refraining from the circulation of rumours.
The Tuesday's weather has been expected to be dusty and partly cloudy, particularly in the northern, coastal, and eastern areas. There is a possibility of precipitation, accompanied by a further decline in temperatures. The prevailing winds are expected to be northwesterly, with moderate to active speeds and gusts reaching 55 km/h, particularly over the sea, where they will be strongest. These winds will also blow at 40 km/h over land, especially in the sea. The sea conditions are expected to be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough at times in the Sea of Oman.
On Wednesday, the weather is expected to be dusty and partly cloudy in the northern, coastal, and eastern areas. The winds are expected to be northwesterly, with moderate to active speeds and strong morning gusts, particularly along the coast, resulting in dust and sandstorms on land at speed of 20 to 35 km/h, with speeds reaching up to 50 km/h, particularly in the sea, where waves are expected to be very turbulent in the Arabian Gulf, and turbulent to medium in the Sea of Oman.
The NCM also predicts clear to partly cloudy weather on Thursday, with occasional cloud in the north and east, and the possibility of light rain.
