The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) revealed that 7,663 male and female Emirati students benefited from the professional and practical training programme that it launched in September 2023. The programme provided 6,245 training opportunities in co-operation with 1,070 companies from all sectors, it said.
The programme aims to enable Emirati young men to acquire the skills required in the labour market, in co-ordination with the Ministry of Education, higher education institutions and Higher Colleges of Technology, in a way that supports their readiness for the labour market and increases their job opportunities in all sectors.
The programme seeks to strengthen connections between Emirati students and private sector companies, thereby contributing to transferring knowledge and developing skills and professional relationships.
Further, it aims to raise the retention rates of Emiratis in private sector jobs and increase their awareness of the importance of this field in supporting the national economy and building an integrated system that motivates young Emiratis to engage in private sector jobs from an early age.
As it witnessed large interaction from companies and educational institutions, reflecting its success in linking educational outcomes with labour market requirements, the programme constitutes a significant step in developing Emirati human capital and preparing a generation capable of competing in all professional fields. This would contribute to supporting and sustaining economic growth and achieving the UAE’s future vision.
The MoHRE plays the role of general co-ordinator of the programme, in co-operation with the Ministry of Education, the Emirates Schools Establishment, Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and the Applied Technology High School, with the support of the Emirati Competitiveness Council (NAFIS).
The MoHRE affirmed that qualifying and training national cadres and enhancing their competitiveness in the labour market is a priority. Based on this, it works in co-operation with its partners to launch pioneering initiatives in training, qualification and integrating Emiratis into private sector jobs from the early stages of education, as this stage gives them the opportunity to explore their professional inclinations and determine their future orientations.
The programme reflects the MoHRE’s commitment to qualifying national cadres according to the highest standards and ensuring the sustainability of their active participation in the country’s economic development process.
