Concerns have been raised regarding the health of the US President, Donald Trump, following the observation of a visible contusion on the dorsal aspect of his right hand.
A close-up photograph of the 78-year-old president's hands, captured during a meeting on Monday with French President Emmanuel Macron, revealed what appeared to be a bruise covered by makeup.
In an interview with The Independent, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt stated that President Trump is a populist figure who engages with the American public frequently.
She cited his daily meetings with citizens and handshakes as evidence of his commitment to this approach.
Result of the Handshake
According to observations made by NBC News and photographs obtained by the news agency, President Trump exhibited visible signs of contusions and erythema on his right hand on at least two occasions, in August and November of the previous year. Furthermore, multiple media outlets reported the presence of contusions on the dorsal aspect of Trump's right hand in 2024.
In an interview with Time magazine in December 2024, Trump was quoted as follows: 'It's the result of shaking hands with thousands of people.'
In a December interview with NBC's Meet the Press, Trump stated that he would release his full medical report. However, he has yet to do so.
Speculation regarding the health of Trump
On the social media platform X, users have engaged in speculation concerning the etiology of the bruising observed on the former President's person.
The conjectures proffered by these users include the possibility of intravenous cannulation, the ingestion of blood-thinning medication, and the hypothesis that the marks are merely the consequence of the natural process of aging.
Furthermore, medical professionals have observed that bruising is a common occurrence in elderly individuals due to the thinning of skin and the weakening of blood vessels that characterise this age group, thus rendering them more vulnerable to such marks.
