As many as 3,220 collision accidents were recorded across the UAE during 2024, according to statistics from the Ministry of Interior, which indicated that 931 hit-and-run accidents were reported during the same period.
According to the statistics, four types of accidents occurred in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which witnessed 1,449 traffic accidents in 2024, including 1,047 collision accidents, 223 hit-and-run accidents, 172 collapse accidents, and 7 other accidents. Meanwhile, the Emirate of Dubai witnessed 2,486 traffic accidents during the same period, including 1,652 collision accidents, 348 rollover accidents, 378 hit-and-run accidents, and 8 other accidents.
The statistics also revealed that the Emirate of Sharjah witnessed 342 accidents in 2024, including 213 collision accidents, 22 collapse accidents, and 96 hit-and-run accidents, along with 11 other accidents. During the same period, the Emirate of Ajman recorded 92 accidents, including 38 collision accidents and 54 hit-and-run accidents.
Furthermore, the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain witnessed 62 accidents in 2024, including 39 collision accidents, 6 collapse accidents, and 17 hit-and-run accidents, while the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah witnessed 171 accidents during the same period, including 130 collision accidents, 12 collapse accidents, and 29 hit-and-run accidents. The Emirate of Fujairah also witnessed 157 accidents, including 101 collision accidents, 21 collapse accidents, 34 hit-and-run accidents, and 1 other accident.
The statistics mentioned that there were 66 reasons for these accidents, including negligence, failure to pay attention, entering the road without ensuring it is clear, jumping the red light, not giving priority to pedestrians, speeding without considering road conditions, driving on the wrong lane, reversing without checking the road, and not adhering to traffic signals.
