Coinciding with the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a series of awareness and educational initiatives targeting various segments of the community, including workers, taxi and heavy vehicle drivers, cyclists, and e-scooter users.
These initiatives reflect RTA’s commitment to enhancing traffic safety awareness, reducing incidents, and informing the public about truck movement restrictions during the Holy Month.
RTA is keen to integrate awareness campaigns into community events, using innovative and smart messaging that aligns with its vision of “The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility.”
These campaigns also support the objectives of Dubai’s Traffic Safety Strategy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Dubai Police General HQ, the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, and the private sector.
RTA urged drivers to embody the virtues and values of the holy month by adhering to traffic rules and respecting the rights of fellow road users. It also highlighted the dangers of driving while fatigued or drowsy, particularly during Ramadan, when some drivers may experience reduced concentration due to physiological changes caused by fasting.
RTA collaborated with Noon to distribute 10,000 Ramadan gift packs to delivery bikers, containing an awareness brochure on traffic safety procedures and requirements for this category.
RTA also collaborated with Listerine to distribute 10,000 Ramadan gift packs, each containing an awareness brochure, to drivers, metro users, cyclists, and e-scooter riders.
Additionally, Iftar meals accompanied by an awareness brochure were provided to Dubai Taxi drivers, bus drivers, and truck drivers in collaboration with Dubai Taxi Corporation, Dubai Investments PJSC, Tokio Marine Insurance, Emirates Driving Institute, Galadari Motor Driving Centre, and Bin Yaber Driving Institute.
RTA informs heavy vehicle drivers that truck movement restrictions are in effect during Ramadan from 7:00am to 11:00pm along E11 between Sharjah and Interchange 7 on Sheikh Zayed Road, covering Al Ittihad Road, Sheikh Rashid Road, and Sheikh Zayed Road, as well as in downtown Deira and Bur Dubai. Additionally, the morning restriction in areas where the three-time daily truck ban applies has been updated, with restrictions now in effect from 7:30am to 9:3am and again from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
Furthermore, the restriction on Emirates Road has been revised, with the ban now enforced from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.
Tips for Drivers:
1.Avoid driving immediately after a heavy meal, especially following a fast.
2.Drive patiently during fasting hours and always maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
3.Plan your route and choose the most suitable mode of transport, whether your private vehicle or public transport.
4.Stay calm on the road, avoid arguments with other drivers, and help foster an atmosphere of tolerance and respect during the holy month.
5.Never sleep inside your vehicle with the windows closed—even with the air conditioning on, as this can lead to suffocation.

These initiatives included support for orphans, underprivileged families, and people of determination within the UAE, alongside rapid humanitarian and relief aid in response to international crises.
RTA participated in the “Mother’s Endowment” campaign launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in honour of mothers.
The initiative benefited approximately 29 million people, reflecting RTA’s commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian support.
RTA also implemented a meal distribution initiative at metro stations during Storm Al Hadeer, providing aid to those affected by the adverse weather conditions of winter 2024.
The initiative initially supported 1,800 individuals, later expanding to benefit 3,300 people following the campaign’s extension.
Further strengthening its humanitarian contributions, RTA played an active role in several relief efforts, including the "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign'' in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent, providing essential aid to those in need.
