The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has successfully completed a project to construct modern roads at the dairy and wheat farms in the city of Mleiha.
Spanning a total length of 19 kilometres, the project constitutes a component of the vital road network being implemented by the authority to support productive projects in the emirate.
This initiative aligns with the overarching strategy of the SRTA, which aims to enhance the quality of infrastructure and establish a sustainable road network that caters to various critical sectors.
Safe transportation
Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmni, Chairman of the SRTA, revealed that the vital roads project implemented by the Authority included the construction of a single road, 12.7 kilometers long, at the dairy farm.
The road consists of two lanes, each 7.30 metres wide. This initiative introduced significant enhancements to traffic management, ensuring uninterrupted flow and facilitating seamless access to the farm.
Furthermore, it is anticipated to enhance the logistical efficiency of the project, thereby contributing to its overall success.
It was emphasised that the new road at the dairy farm signifies a substantial enhancement to the infrastructure supporting livestock production, as it provides a secure and unobstructed route that fulfils the requirement for paved roads for the transportation of both heavy and light vehicles employed in the conveyance of livestock products and fodder.
It is anticipated that this enhancement will positively impact the project's productivity, thereby achieving the highest levels of service and quality.
Flexible Transportation
It was explained that the project also included the construction of a 6.2-kilometre-long, two-lane, 7.30-metre-wide road at the wheat farm.
This will enhance ease of movement between agricultural production areas and help regulate vehicle flow more smoothly and safely.
The new road is a pivotal component in the enhancement of farm infrastructure, facilitating transportation and distribution operations, and supporting the emirate's objectives of achieving agricultural self-sufficiency and increasing local production.
The Chairman of the (SRTA) emphasised that the implementation of these projects falls within the Authority's vision to develop an integrated infrastructure that supports comprehensive and sustainable development across the emirate, in line with the emirate's agricultural and industrial expansion plans.
The construction of new roads in the city of Mleiha is indicative of the ongoing commitment to enhancing the efficiency of infrastructure and improving the quality of roads that connect productive projects to vital facilities. This enables them to facilitate transportation and support economic and logistical growth in the emirate.
He also explained that these projects directly contribute to supporting the agricultural and livestock production sector, which is one of the important pillars of sustainable development.
Furthermore, it was emphasised that these projects contribute to achieving the vision and aspirations of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to enhance food security and support farmers and investors in this vital sector.
Al Othmni emphasised the Authority's ongoing dedication to the implementation of future development projects that contribute to achieving the aforementioned vision of Sharjah.
This vision is focused on the establishment of an advanced and sustainable road network that meets the needs of various sectors and provides a safe and facilitated transportation environment for all users. This is in keeping with the urban and economic expansion of the emirate, in a manner that supports the comprehensive development process pursued by the Emirate of Sharjah in accordance with the vision of its wise leadership.
