Al Ain Court of First Instance ordered a man to pay Dhs20,000 to another after causing him distress through repeated phone calls and communication services.
The plaintiff had initially demanded Dhs200,000 in compensation, citing a previous criminal conviction against the appellee.
In the details, the plaintiff filed a lawsuit against the suspect, requesting that he be obligated to pay him Dhs5,000 as compensation for the material and moral damages he incurred, in addition to legal fees and expenses.
The plaintiff stated that the appellee had harassed him through phone calls, and he had been previously convicted in a criminal case.
The plaintiff's legal representative submitted a memorandum amending the claims, requesting that the appellee be obligated to pay the plaintiff Dhs200,000 as compensation for the material and moral damages he incurred, plus a 12% interest from the date of the lawsuit until full payment, in addition to legal fees and expenses.
The court stated that the appellee's fault was proved, and it caused the plaintiff psychological distress due to the appellee's actions. Therefore, he was obligated to compensate the plaintiff with Dhs20,000.
