In a swift and well-prepared intervention, Emirates crew members were able to assist in the resuscitation of a passenger who was in a critical condition during a return flight from Delhi via Dubai on the 14th of this month.
As the aircraft traversed the seventh hour of its 20-hour flight, an elderly passenger encountered a series of medical complications, including respiratory distress, low blood pressure, and a cardiac condition. Two medical professionals on board the aircraft promptly administered intravenous fluids, a critical intervention that ensured the patient's survival. In addition, the cabin crew played a pivotal role in managing the situation by maintaining composure among the passengers and providing assistance to the patient. Notably, one crew member continuously held the IV bag for a duration of 13 hours, a crucial effort that precluded the need for an emergency diversion of the aircraft, which was navigating through an area of open water.
Meanwhile, the remainder of the crew served tea, refreshing cocktails and meals with the objective of alleviating the tension experienced by the passengers.
Upon landing, the medical staff, in conjunction with a significant number of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, recived the unwell passenger and addressed the situation.
Passengers described the flight crew as excellent and highly trained.
