The Court of Misdemeanours in Dubai has fined an Asian man Dhs10,000 and suspended his driving licence for three months for driving a sports car under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident that damaged both the vehicle and a concrete wall.
In February last year, an Asian man was observed driving a sports vehicle in Al Barsha area of Dubai in a manner that could be considered reckless and lacking in the requisite care and caution.
This behaviour resulted in the vehicle veering suddenly, leading to a collision with a concrete barrier and damage to property not belonging to the driver.
A police officer's report on the investigation revealed that the accused was in an abnormal state and exhibited the odour of alcoholic beverages. A specialised device administered to the accused revealed that he was intoxicated, with a high blood alcohol level.
The defendant admitted that he had caused the accident by driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The Court convicted him and handed down the aforementioned judgement.
