A 31-year-old Emirati was killed in a collision between his motorcycle and a vehicle driven by a woman on the Umbrella Beach Street in Fujairah.
Brigadier-General Saleh Mohammad Abdullah Al Dhanhani, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Fujairah Police, said his department received a report at 2am that a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle took place on the Umbrella Beach Street.
As the traffic patrols moved to the scene of the collision, it was found that the accident took place when the vehicle entered the street without making sure it was clear, he added.
Al Dhanhani stressed the importance of abiding by traffic rules and ensuring the road is clear before crossing, especially on hectic roads, where the risk of collisions increases due to the influx of vehicles from multiple directions.
He also underlined the need to abide by the speed limits on roads, as this plays a key role in reducing the risk of accidents and mitigating the severity of collisions, noting that excessive speed reduces the driver’s ability to control his vehicle.
