Light rain hits parts of UAE, drop in temperature expected on Monday

Various regions of the country experienced light to moderate rainfall on Sunday, a consequence of the country being impacted by the extension of a shallow air depression from the west and an air height from the east, accompanied by a weak air depression in the upper atmosphere.

Precipitation was observed on Dayyinah Island, Qurnain Island, Abu Al Abyad Island, Mahimat Island, Arzana Island, Das Island, Nawari Island, Al Wahil Island, Al Tawila, Al Samih and Ghantoot in Abu Dhabi, west Bu Al Nadhra, west Bu Hassa, Al Aif, west Bu Al Dhiyab, Tatid, Madinat Zayed and Bedea Saif in Al Dhafra region, Al Quaa in Al Ain, Al Hamriya in Sharjah, and Al Halah and Al Tayyiba in Fujairah.

The lowest temperature recorded in the country was 15.9°C, observed at Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 07:45 am on Sunday.

The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has expected that the weather on Monday, will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with the possibility of light rain, particularly in the west and on islands. There will also be a noticeable decrease in temperatures, with northwesterly winds of light to moderate speeds expected to become active to strong. The NCM also expects that the weather on Wednesday will be predominantly clear to partly cloudy at times, with elevated humidity levels during nighttime and Thursday morning in some inland areas, leading to the formation of fog and light fog. The prevailing winds are expected to be northwesterly, with moderate to light speeds. During the day, the sea will be subject to northwesterly winds of speed ranging from 10 to 20 km/h, reaching a up to 40 km/h, and the waves in the Arabian Gulf will be turbulent to moderate, and light in the Sea of Oman.

The Thursday's weather is expected to be clear interspersed with the formation of cloud in the east during the day, and a rise in humidity at night and on Friday morning in some coastal and inland areas, with the potential for the formation of fog or light fog. The northwesterly winds are expected to be northeasterly to northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, occasionally active, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h.
