Al Ain Court of First Instance has ordered a man to pay Dhs20,000 in compensation to a woman after he verbally abused her in a manner which tarnished her honour and reputation.
The suspect was previously convicted in a criminal case for this offence.
In detail, a woman filed a lawsuit against a man, requesting the court to order him to pay her Dhs100,000 as compensation for the material and moral damages she incurred, along with legal fees and expenses.
The plaintiff based her claim on the fact that the appellee had verbally abused her in a way which tarnished her honour and reputation, for which he was convicted in a criminal case.
She submitted evidence, including copies of the criminal judgments and a certificate confirming that the appellate ruling was not challenged through cassation.
The court said that the criminal judgment confirmed the appellee’s conviction for verbally abusing the plaintiff, causing her moral harm by injuring her feelings and damaging her reputation, making him legally obligated to compensate the plaintiff for these damages.
The court then obligated the appellee to pay Dhs20,000 to the plaintiff in compensation for the moral damages she incurred.
