The Department of Economic Development-Ras Al Khaimah contributed to an environmentally friendly initiative by bringing more than 23,000 empty water bottles to the emirate's Waste Management System of the Public Services Department, equivalent to 1.3 tonnes, during the first quarter of this year.
These initiatives reflect the department’s ongoing efforts to reduce waste and conserve natural resources.
According to Sami Mohammed Al Rabah, Acting Director of the Corporate Communications Office at the Department of Economic Development-RAK, most of the department’s employees participated in the initiative.
To encourage them to participate, each employee received one volunteering hour for collecting 100 plastic bottles, which was entered in the employee performance record, he said.
Employee Hamoud Al Mashaykhi received 37 volunteering hours for collecting 3,700 bottles during the first quarter of this year, he added, noting that the initiative would continue until the end of the year.
The initiative aims to enhance social responsibility in the field of environmental work among the department’s employees, enabling them to adopt environmentally friendly options, increase the recycling and the circular economy index and support the achievement of national environmental targets.
