The Superintendent of Police (SP), Aisha Butt, of Punjab police has brought honour to Pakistan, especially to women in public service, as she has been selected to receive the Excellence in Performance Award 2025, a police spokesman said.
The award, conferred by the International Association of Women Police, recognises SP Aisha Butt’s “distinguished service and commitment to policing.”
“On behalf of our members, the Board of Directors and the Recognition Committee, congratulations on receiving the highly competitive global recognition,” reads the letter issued by IAWP President Julia Jaeger.
The award, given every year to a female police officer from around the world in recognition of her extraordinary services, will be bestowed upon SP Butt during the 62nd IAWP Annual Training Conference set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from Sept.8 to Sept.12, 2025. SP Butt is currently serving as the City Traffic Officer of Gujranwala.
Congratulating the police personnel on her achievement, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar said that her success is a source of pride for all police officers. He congratulated her and said Pakistani women are proud of her for her selection for the prestigious award. The IAWP is also proud of her selection for the award.
In 2016, Aisha Butt completed her training as a police officer. In a group of 29 she was the only female. Her first posting was as assistant police officer (ASP), Garden Town, Lahore. Then she went into the Frontier Constabulary (FC). She was posted in Peshawar for three months. From there to Islamabad where she served as personal staff officer (PSO) to the then interior minister. Back to Lahore, she was ASP Civil Lines, ASP Gulshan Ravi, ASP Ferozewala, Sheikhupura. In Ferozewala’s civil service history she was the first female officer. After promotion she was posted in Lahore.
