An Asian salesman stabbed another after an altercation, during which the first pulled out a knife and inflicted two deep stab wounds to the victim's chest and back.
Dubai Criminal Court sentenced the assailant to one month in jail, fined him Dhs10,000, and ordered his deportation after serving his sentence.
The incident dates back to February 2024 when an Asian national filed a report with the Dubai Investment Park Police, stating that another person had been stabbed following a fight.
The informant explained that he saw the victim kicking the suspect and grabbing him by the neck before pushing him to the ground and attempting to flee from the scene.
The informant added that the suspect, who was a vegetable vendor at the place, got up, chased the victim, and stabbed him twice, in the back and the chest before fleeing.
Police and ambulance arrived, and the victim was taken to the hospital.
The victim stated in the interrogations that he was walking with a friend after consuming alcohol at their residence when they witnessed a fight between several people.
He allegedly attempted to intervene, but the suspect, whom he did not know previously, assaulted him and then stabbed him.
A report from the General Department of Criminal Evidence and Criminology indicated that the victim's injuries included a spleen injury and bleeding in the chest cavity, classifying his condition as serious and requiring more than 20 days for recovery.
A policeman testified that an investigation team identified the suspect, who was arrested and, during questioning, he said that he worked as a vegetable vendor at the place.
He added that while working, the victim, who was intoxicated, approached him with another, assaulted him, grabbed him by the neck, kicked him, and pushed him to the ground.
He also admitted to chasing the victim as he tried to flee, pulling out a knife he used for work, and stabbing him twice before fleeing the scene when he saw the victim bleeding.
He claimed he did not intend to kill the victim but wanted to retaliate for the assault.
