During the holy month of Ramadan 2025, the spirit of giving came alive in a remarkable initiative led by Let’s Walk Again with Dr. Knee — a social impact and health movement founded by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Azam Badar Khan who is firmly known as Dr. Knee.
With the official approval and support of Emirates Red Crescent, the initiative brought together over 1,500 child volunteers to distribute 3,000 iftar meal packs to labourers and workers at Sajja Labour Park, Sharjah, across all Fridays of the holy month.
At the heart of this movement were the young heroes — students lovingly referred to as children — who dedicated their time, energy, and compassion to serving those in need.
Most of these student volunteers came from different schools all over UAE, whose leadership and staff played a key role in coordinating the effort with passion and efficiency, also the parents.
From 4:00pm to 6:30pm every Friday, the labour park transformed into a site of joyful service. Laughter and excitement blended with purpose as children lined up with meals in hand, ready to serve fasting workers — many of whom spend long days in the sun with minimal access to proper meals. For the students, it was more than just volunteering. It was a chance to connect, to understand gratitude, and to feel the joy of giving firsthand.
Dr. Azam Badar Khan – Dr. Knee, deeply moved by the young participants, shared,
“Watching 1,500 students come together to serve others with such grace and empathy was one of the most powerful moments of this year’s Ramadan. This initiative wasn’t just about food — it was about building the next generation of changemakers.”
Each participating child received a Certificate of Appreciation, acknowledging their valuable contribution. This gesture not only recognised the children's service but also helped instil a sense of pride and social responsibility in their families.
The initiative stands as a glowing example of what is possible when humanitarian vision meets community spirit. Under the umbrella of Let’s Walk Again with Dr. Knee, the event not only provided nourishment to the body but also fed the soul of an entire community — bringing people of different backgrounds together for a shared purpose.
Beyond food drives, Let’s Walk Again with Dr. Knee continues its mission across the UAE, India, and Africa and many countries all over the world through medical outreach, orthopaedic care, knee health awareness, and rehabilitation programmes for underserved communities. The vision remains clear: to create a healthier, kinder world — one step at a time.
As the sun set over Sajja each Friday, and thousands of workers opened their fasts with meals handed to them by smiling children, one could feel that something greater than charity was at play. It was the pure power of human connection.
