The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar honoured the UAE Search and Rescue Team in recognition of its significant efforts during its humanitarian and relief missions in areas affected by the recent earthquake that struck Myanmar, which resulted in significant loss of life and property.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Social Affairs of the Government of Myanmar and the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs praised the prominent humanitarian role of the United Arab Emirates and its effective and rapid support to countries affected by natural disasters.
They emphasized that the presence of the UAE team contributed significantly to saving lives and alleviating the suffering of those affected.
The minister honored Colonel Muzaffar Mohammed Al Ameri, Commander of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, and Lieutenant Colonel Hamad Mohammed Al Kaabi, Deputy Commander of the Team, praising their professional competence, the team's outstanding efforts, and its fruitful cooperation with local and international teams on the ground.
During the meeting, a presentation was given on the latest developments in search and rescue operations. The Minister announced the official suspension of all field operations after the completion of the urgent response phases.
The meeting also included the exchange of commemorative shields between the UAE Search and Rescue Team and the Myanmar, Vietnamese, Singaporean, and French teams.
Operational plans and expertise were also discussed, enhancing the readiness of emergency teams in the future.
At the conclusion of the team's mission, Colonel Muzaffar Mohammed Al Ameri, Commander of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, expressed his pride in this recognition, stressing that it embodies the international community's confidence in the competence of the UAE teams and their high capacity to respond to emergency situations.
He emphasized that the recognition comes in recognition of the significant field efforts made by team members in a challenging and exceptional environment, and reflects the international community's confidence in the high efficiency of the UAE rescue teams.
Lieutenant Colonel Hamad Mohammed Al Kaabi, Deputy Commander of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, noted that this honor embodies the UAE's commitment to its steadfast humanitarian approach, pursued under the guidance of its wise leadership, by standing by people affected by crises and disasters around the world.
He added that the team is proud to represent the country in such missions, carrying a message of solidarity and peace that transcends borders. He affirmed the team's continued commitment to its responsibilities in supporting affected communities and consolidating the UAE's presence in global humanitarian action.
The UAE, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, quickly dispatched a search and rescue team to support search and rescue efforts for those affected by the earthquake that struck the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. This continues to embody the values of cooperation, solidarity, and global synergy by quickly assisting those affected, wounded, and injured, and alleviating the suffering of those affected and afflicted. This is a well-established humanitarian role undertaken by the UAE around the world.
