According to statistics from the Ministry of Interior (MoI), 325 accidents occurred in 2024 due to drivers failing to give way to emergency vehicles, ambulances, or police cars.
The MoI detailed that 107 accidents took place in Abu Dhabi, 160 in Dubai, 31 in Ajman, 5 in Ras Al Khaimah, 3 in Umm Al Quwain, 17 in Sharjah, and 2 in Fujairah, affirming that the fine for not giving priority to emergency vehicles is Dhs3,000, along with 6 traffic points and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
The MoI urged road users to be active partners in its efforts by acting responsibly, clearing the way for emergency vehicles, and adhering to proper traffic behaviours to ensure their timely arrival at accident scenes.
It is worth mentioning that Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) launched the "Give Way to Emergency Vehicles" campaign in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Police Command and the Department of Municipalities and Transport, with the aim of raising community awareness about the importance of giving way to emergency vehicles to ensure they reach accident sites quickly, saving lives and property.
