Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has carried out a new project to develop the Sheikh Juma Bin Mohammed Al Mutawa intersection with a view to enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion in the area.
The project includes building a third 180-meter-long lane as part of the SRTA’s ongoing traffic improvement projects across the emirate’s cities and regions, aiming at meeting the aspirations of developing a sustainable infrastructure and achieving comprehensive development goals.
According to Eng. Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, the project is part of SRTA’s plan to develop the emirate’s road and transport infrastructure in line with the ongoing increase in the number of vehicles and the traffic volume.
The development aims at reducing traffic congestion and improving traffic flow, especially on the emirate’s key roads, he said.
The project also includes the construction of a new U-turn from the Yarmouk area towards the Al Ghubaiba area, which will significantly ease traffic flow, he added, noting that the new U-turn would enable drivers to easily divert to the main road, thereby contributing to accelerating traffic flow.
