The Second Criminal Court of (Juvenile Misdemeanours) accepted the appeals in form and amended the ruling to sentence three juveniles to community service at the Emirates Cultural and Sports Club in Ras Al Khaimah for a total of 48 hours which is to be performed four hours per day on weekends until the end of the academic year.
According to lawyer Hanan Salem, representing one of the suspects, the first, a 15-year-old, assaulted another 15-year-old, causing injuries which incapacitated him from performing personal tasks for a period not exceeding 20 days.
The second and third suspects were complicit in aiding the first in committing the crime.
The court initially ruled to place the three juveniles in a juvenile institution.
However, the suspects appealed the ruling, requesting acquittal or an alternative sentence other than institutional placement but the court rejected their appeal.
