Brigadier Omar Musa Ashour, Acting Director of Naif Police Station, urged parents to pay attention to their children and not leave them unattended in order to ensure their safety and keep them away from all harms.
This came after the station returned a 6-year-old child of determination to his family after he lost his way home.
A report was received from the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations, stating that a child had been found lost in Naif Souk, crying and in a state of extreme fear, Ashour said.
Patrols rushed to the scene and escorted the child to the station, while the victim support section provided care and paid due attention to him until his family was identified, he added.
Ashour pointed out that the station’s staff were able to locate the child’s father within an hour.
The father explained that he worked in a store in the building where they lived and that the child went out to his father’s place of work, leaving his mother at home. Each of the father and mother believed that the child was with the other but the child left the building to the street, he said.
Ashour emphasized that the necessary legal measures would be taken including summoning the child’s father and having him sign a pledge for the incident not to be repeated and to keep a close eye on the child to ensure he was safe and prevent any harm that might befall him, especially since he was a person of determination.
