The General Directorate of Traffic in Dubai Police has revealed several radar-detected traffic violations and their corresponding fines as follows: Exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than 80 km/h entails a fine of Dhs3,000, 60-day vehicle impoundment, with 23 traffic points, while a motorist exceeding the speed limit by more than 60 km/h is fined Dhs2,000, faces a 20-day vehicle impoundment, with 12 traffic points, and if he exceeds the speed limit by 50 km/h he is fined Dhs1,000.
In case of exceeding the speed limit by more than 40 km/h the fine imposed is Dhs700, while exceeding the speed limit by 30 km/h entails a fine of Dhs600 and exceeding the speed limit by 20 km/h Dhs300.
Other types of violations include jumping the red light, for which the driver is fined Dhs1,000, faces a 30-day vehicle impoundment, with 12 traffic points, while failing to follow the mandatory lane involves a fine of Dhs400 but Dhs1,500 for heavy vehicles, with 12 traffic points.
Driving in the opposite direction of traffic, according to Dubai Police, entails a fine of Dhs600, 7-day vehicle impoundment, with 4 traffic points while overtaking on the road shoulder carries a fine of Dhs1,000, 30-day vehicle impoundment, with 6 traffic points.
Safety-related violations include failure to put on the seatbelt, for which the driver is fined Dhs400, with 4 traffic points, while a motorist using a mobile phone while driving is fined Dhs800 with 4 traffic points and exceeding the permitted tint level for vehicle windows entails a fine of Dhs1,500.
Dubai Police have also revealed that failure to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead entails a fine of Dhs400 with 4 traffic points, while driving a noisy vehicle gets a fine of Dhs2,000 with 12 traffic points and failing to give priority to pedestrians at designated crossings involves a fine of Dhs500 with 6 traffic points.
Making a turn from a non-designated area gets a fine of Dhs500 with 4 traffic points, while driving an unregistered vehicle involves a fine of Dhs500 with 4 traffic points.
Stopping in the middle of the road without justification means a fine of Dhs1,000 with 6 traffic points.
A heavy vehicle entering prohibited roads or areas is fined Dhs1,000 with 4 traffic points, according to Dubai Police, while a motorist parking behind vehicles in a way which obstructs traffic is slapped with a fine of Dhs500.
These penalties aim to enhance road safety and encourage compliance with traffic regulations in Dubai, the police stated.
