The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has warned of continued strong northwesterly winds, with speeds amounting to 45 kilometres/h, causing rough to very rough seas in the Arabian Gulf, with waves rising to 9 feet in depth at times.
This condition is expected to last until 2:00pm on Thursday, due to the impact of a surface low-pressure system from the east and a high-pressure system from the west, accompanied by a weak upper-air low-pressure extension.
The lowest temperature recorded in the country was 13.2°C in Al Farfar, Fujairah, at 00:45am, Wednesday.
Thursday’s weather is expected to be dusty and partly cloudy at times and winds will be northwesterly, moderate to active, occasionally strong at sea, stirring dust and reducing visibility at times, with speeds ranging from 15 to 30 kilometres/h, amounting to 50 kilometres/h and the sea will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate, occasionally roughening, in the Sea of Oman.
Friday’s weather will be generally clear to partly cloudy and occasionally dusty. It is expected to be humid during the night and on early Saturday morning in some coastal and inland areas and winds will be northwesterly, moderate to active, occasionally strong at sea, stirring dust, especially in the east, with speeds ranging from 15 to 30 kilometres/h, amounting to 45 kilometres/h and the sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate, occasionally roughening, in the Sea of Oman.
Saturday’s weather is expected to be generally clear with occasional partial cloud cover and low clouds appearing in the east, and humid during the night and on early Sunday morning in some northern coastal areas.
Winds, according to the NCM, will be northwesterly, light to moderate, occasionally active, with speeds ranging from 15 to 25 kilometres/h, amounting to 40 kilometres/h and the sea will be moderate, occasionally roughening, in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to light in the Sea of Oman. Sunday’s weather is expected to be generally clear to partly cloudy and occasionally cloudy, especially in some coastal and western areas.
Winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, occasionally active with speeds ranging from 15 to 25 kilometres/h, amounting to 40 kilometres/h and the sea will be moderate to light in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
