Dr. Hristijan Mickoski, Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, on Tuesday visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. He was accompanied by Abdelqader Mohammedi, Ambassador of North Macedonia to the UAE, along with an official delegation.
Dr. Mickoski and his delegation toured the mosque’s prayer halls and courtyards, accompanied by Dr. Yusuf Al-Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.
During their tour, they were briefed on the mosque’s central role in promoting coexistence, tolerance, and openness, values deeply rooted in the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s founding father.
They also learned about the centre’s ongoing efforts in promoting authentic Islamic culture, building bridges with diverse world cultures, and distinguishing the mosque as a unique place of worship.
The delegation was introduced to the mosque’s history, admired its unique architectural details, and explored its extensive collection of artworks and artefacts, demonstrating Islamic civilisation’s artistic and architectural heritage.
The mosque’s architecture represents a harmonious fusion of different cultural styles, embodying unity and creativity.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Mickoski was presented with a gift—a compass inspired by the mosque’s renowned chandeliers—and the centre’s latest publication, “Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace.”
The book features a visual journey highlighting the mosque’s architectural magnificence through award-winning photographs from the “Spaces of Light” photography award.
On Monday, Dr. Mickoski visited the Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, received, Dr. Mickoski at Wahat Al Karama.
Accompanied by Sheikh Theyab, the Prime Minister of North Macedonia reviewed the guard of honour that lined up to greet him and then laid flowers at the memorial in front of the martyrs’ monument.
He was briefed on Wahat Al Karama, which symbolises the heroism and sacrifices of the brave UAE Nationals in defending the country and protecting its gains and achievements.
Sheikh Theyab praised the progress of relations between the UAE and the Republic of North Macedonia in all fields, with the support and guidance of the two countries’ leaderships to achieve the common interest of the two friendly peoples.
He reaffirmed that Wahat Al Karama embodies the gratitude and appreciation of the UAE leadership towards its heroes, who gave their precious lives for the sake of the homeland, symbolising the values of heroism, courage and sacrifice that Emirati generations proudly uphold.
At the end of the tour, the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia penned a message in the Wahat Al Karama guestbook expressing his appreciation for the martyrs of the UAE.
