Sharjah Public Works Department announced a partial closure of Al Marija Street from Al Arouba Street to Al Marija Square, starting at 9:00 am on Thursday (April 17, 2025) until Thursday (Oct.16, 2025).
The closure is part of the Middle Line Project’ for draining rainwater and groundwater.
The project aims to boost the infrastructure of water drainage networks and reduce water accumulation during the rainy season, thereby improving the efficiency of the drainage network and ensuring continuous traffic flow in vital areas of the city.
The project includes the development of a modern and advanced network that keeps pace with urban growth and population density in Al Marija area and the surrounding areas.
The department noted that alternative routes would be provided to ease traffic flow during the closure period via a plan broadcast across its social media platforms, which aims to ensure smooth traffic flow so that road users are not affected by the partial closure.
It urged all drivers and road users to co-operate, follow the temporary road signs and abide by the traffic instructions.
The department affirmed its continued commitment to carrying out key projects in accordance with the highest quality and safety standards, while minimizing the impact on residents and surrounding facilities.
Work would be carried out in full co-ordination with the concerned authorities to avoid any disruption or delay, it said, adding that this project falls within the Government of Sharjah’s vision to enhance sustainable infrastructure and achieve the highest levels of safety and comfort for the emirate’s residents and visitors.
