A brave Kashmiri man, Syed Adil Hussain Shah, died while trying to stop militants from killing innocent tourists in Pahalgam resort on Tuesday, local media reported.
The 29, a Muslim pony ride operator, tried shielding tourists from indiscriminate gunfire.
An eyewitness said Adil rushed towards a gunman to snatch his weapon but was shot several times.
The eyewitness said he died like a hero in Kashmir.
The 29-year-old hails from Hapatnar village in Anantnag district. Authorities said it was one of the deadliest attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, where 25 other people besides Syed Adil were killed in a cold-blooded murder.
Video shared online showed the father of Adil Hussain Shah wailing next to his son's body at his village Hapatnar, about 20 km from Pahalgam where the incident took place.

J&K CM Omar Abdullah salutes Adil’s sacrifice.
"It’s very sad but what can we do... He was the sole earner, he was my son, and he was young too. We are sad, but what can we do... He left at about 8 am (on Tuesday) with the horses. The horse owners sit there, and labourers from here go to work there, earning Rs 200 to 300 for a single trip. When he was going uphill... the incident happened," said Adil's father Syed Haider Shah.
On the other hand, the J&K all party meeting convened in Srinagar on Thursday passed a resolution which supports the Union government and also commended Kashmiris for providing all the support to the tourists in testing times.
"We also support the steps taken by the Union government announced yesterday," reads a resolution passed in the meeting.
It also said that the parties salute the supreme sacrifice of Shaheed Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who ferried tourists on his horse in Pahalgam and was martyred during his attempt to fight one of the terrorists to save the tourists.

"His valour and selflessness shall forever remain an inspiration for all. He is the true face of Kashmiriyat and Kashmir hospitality. We hereby commend our people for the extraordinary moral and material support to all the tourists across the Kashmir Valley and for their resolute unity in condemning the attack," the resolution added.
The meeting started with a two-minute silence to remember the tourists.
"We stand unwavering in our commitment to support all efforts in bringing these perpetrators to justice. In doing so, we affirm that no act of terror can ever weaken our resolve or extinguish our indomitable spirit," stated the resolution.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) national spokesperson Waris Pathan, condemning the attack in the strongest terms, called for a united national front against terrorism, urging all political parties to set aside their differences and take decisive action to combat the growing threat of terrorism.
"This is not the time for communal politics. Reports indicate that some of those who helped rescue victims were Muslims. One such man, Syed Adil Hussain who lost his life trying to save others. Terrorism does not see religion, and our response should not either. All political parties must come together to take strong, united steps against terrorism," he stressed.
