The 118th public auction for distinctive vehicle licence plate numbers, launched by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on the evening of Saturday, April 26, 2025, achieved the highest revenue in the history of distinguished number plate auctions since their inception, totaling approximately Dhs100 million.
The number (CC22) scored the highest price in the auction, selling for Dhs8.35 million, followed by (BB20) at Dhs7.52 million, (BB19) at Dhs6.68 million, (AA707) at Dhs3.31 million, and (AA222) at Dhs3.3 million.
The RTA offered 90 distinctive licence plate numbers in the auction, held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, including two-digit, three-digit, four-digit, and five-digit plates from categories (AA, BB, CC, I, J, O, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z).
The most distinctive numbers included the super numbers 22 CC, 19 BB, and 20 BB, whose nominal value was set at Dhs16.565 million, while the total revenue reached Dhs98.83 million.
RTA allowed interested participants to register through its website (www.rta.ae), RTA Dubai app, or at customer happiness centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha.
The sale of numbers was subject to a 5% VAT and participants were required to have a traffic file in Dubai, submit a security deposit of Dhs25,000 via a cheque to RTA, and pay a non-refundable registration fee of Dhs120.
Payments could also be made via credit card through RTA’s website and app.
