Cricket is a darling to many people in the world. In other words, cricket is a game of gentlemen, it spreads love among the cricket-friendly countries (“‘Cricket over my wife:’ Fans throng Dubai International Stadium to watch high-octane India-Pakistan match,” Oct. 24, Gulf Today).
Thousands of fans arrived for the Twenty20 World Cup blockbuster between India and Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday with one supporter saying he chose “cricket over the wife” to watch the game.
The arch-rivals clashed in one of the biggest games of the tournament with an estimated global television audience of up to one billion people.
Every match of the Twenty20 World Cup is an important match, but the match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is always an epic encounter.
I must say expatriates from India and Pakistan who surely consider the United Arab Emirates their second home, are lucky enough to get a chance to watch live matches between their countries in a beautiful Dubai cricket ground, and I firmly believe that they love it more than people watching live matches on screen back home.
As I said, cricket is a gentleman’s game. I wish cricket crazy nations India and Pakistan enjoy classic cricket between their teams and celebrate the victory regardless of whether India wins the game or Pakistan.
