Queen Elizabeth II poses for a photograph.

It has been a strange and sad week after the death of Great Britain’s beloved Queen Elizabeth II. This week we take a look back at the life and legacy of the longest reigning British monarch with pictures spanning her entire ruling from 1952 until her death on Sept.8.

The UK and the world have mourned the charismatic Queen’s death at the age of 96. She died in her Scottish home in Balmoral, where she spent her summers with her nearest and dearest. The Queen’s health seemed to deteriorate before our eyes after the loss of her husband Prince Philip in April of last year. When news broke of her family rushing to be with her at Balmoral on Sept.8, I think it was clear there was something very wrong.

After her death was announced, her firstborn Prince Charles became King Charles III with his wife and longtime love Camilla becoming Queen Consort. King Charles III has been on a whirlwind tour of the UK, carrying out all his official duties and showing his dedication to serving his country just as his mother did. The Queen will be greatly missed.

In other news this week, the 74th Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles to celebrate Hollywood’s finest. Actress Amanda Seyfried won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role in the drama show “The Dropout.” The series was nominated for a total of six awards.
