After a long wait and months of speculation and predictions, the Emmy Award nominations for this year have finally been revealed. This week we are taking a look at who made the cut, who missed the cut and the shocks and snubs in between.
The popular TV show “Ted Lasso” has dominated the Emmys with its last two seasons. However, its third season was not as great as the first two leaving fans disappointed with its ending. Despite that the comedy series received a total of seven nominations. Included in those nominations was a supporting actress nod for the British actress Juno Temple. She was also nominated for the first and second seasons but did not win.
Fans and TV critics voiced confusion as to why the new thriller show “Bad Sisters” did not receive a nomination for best drama series. The show centres around five Irish sisters and their tumultuous lives. Actress Sharon Horgan did receive a lead actress nomination for her role as the eldest sister. She also created the series which has been confirmed for a second season.
In other news this week, was anyone not glued to the Wimbledon and the brilliant tennis that was played? First the women’s final where Czech player Markéta Vondroušová defeated an emotional Ons Jabeur from Tunisia. Jabeur found herself in the same position as 2022 where she lost to Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan. The men’s final was also nail biting after Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic and gained a whole new load of fans.
