We are right in the middle of awards season at the moment, and finally after what seems like an eternity, we have the Oscar nominations. This week we take a look at all the nominations including the surprises that no one saw coming and the snubs which have got people riled.

Straight off the bat, the biggest talking point about these Oscar nominations has got to be director Greta Gerwig and actress Margot Robbie missing out on nominations while Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera receiving best supporting actor and best supporting actress respectively.

In total the “Barbie” movie received a whopping eight nominations, but critics and fans alike are absolutely furious that Robbie and Gerwig missed out. They’re blaming the “patriarcy,” but I honestly believe if they were worthy of nominations, they would have received them, it’s that simple.

Another big surprise in the nominations came in the form of actress Annette Bening for her lead actress nod for the film “Nyad.” This is Bening’s fifth Oscar nomination and while she has never won before this might be her lucky year. She is a brilliant actress and deserves the nomination, I do not know why people are so surprised by it.
