Hilary Swank

We are mere days away from the 96th Academy Awards. Sticking with that theme we are taking a look at some of the most prolific Oscar winners who have won more than one golden statue during their careers.

Hilary Swank is a really talented actress, and while she hasn’t been seen much since giving birth to her twins in 2023, who can forget her winning performances from the past two decades. Swank is one of the few actresses who have won the Best Actress Oscar twice. Her first win came in 2000 for the movie “Boys Don’t Cry” and the second came in 2005 for her portrayal of a boxer in “Million Dollar Baby.”

Another actress with two wins under her belt is Cate Blanchett. Unlike Swank though, Blanchett has been nominated a whopping eight times over the span of her career. Her first win was the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in the movie “The Aviator.” She then went on to win Best Actress for the movie “Blue Jasmine.” Her last nomination was in 2022 for Best Actress and I am sure it will not be her last.

Actor Mahershala Ali made history when he became the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar in 2016. He won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the drama movie “Moonlight.” Ali won Best Supporting Actor again two years later for his performance in the biographical comedy-drama “Green Book.”

In other news this week, turn to our Nutrition pages to read about the problem of obesity and what needs to be done to combat it. According to recent research there are over one billion obese people around the world. Those are scary statistics and there needs to be more awareness raised and help given to people that need to lost weight.
